Peak Spring
T.S. Elliot wrote that April is the cruelest month and he would have found few to disagree with him in Boston. New Englanders are winter-weary and days like today (in the 40's and raining) are a gut punch.
I recently listened to an excellent podcast with Paul Tudor-Jones who talked about his newfound obsession with catching moments of peak spring and peak fall and how he organizes his travel around catching those moments. He observed that on any given day, somewhere on the planet is(I suppose one would have to discard July, August, December, and January) experiencing one of these transitional crecesndos.
So I asked Claude when peak spring would be arriving here in Cambridge. Peak fragrance will occur when the Lilacs and Crabapples are blossoming at the same time and it estimates that will occur between May 5th and May 10th.
It's a reminder to count ones blessings and I am looking forward to an evening walk with my wife and daughter as New England bursts into life.
